University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible General Surgeon to join our General Surgery practice within MHealth Fairview East Region, currently providing care at St. Johns Hospital, Woodwinds Hospital and the Maplewood Surgery Center. As part of a multidisciplinary surgical practice of nearly 50 general surgeons within University of Minnesota Physicians and M Health Fairview, you will work locally with 8 General Surgeons in the East Metro for onsite call that varies from 1:7 to 1:8 currently. We are looking for someone who has a curiosity about a wide breadth of General Surgery including a specific curiosity about breast surgery. Other areas are acute care, laparoscopy, colon surgery, and colonoscopies. As a part of the M Health Fairview system, providers have access to consultation, collaborative management or referral as indicated by the health status of the patient. Also, an established referral base of M Health Fairview primary care and subspecialty.

Procedures performed include: Breast biopsy, Lumpectomy, Mastectomy, Sentinel llymph node biopsy, "bread and butter general surgery", EGDs, colonoscopies, Laparoscopic procedures, Robotic procedures, and endoscopy. Wound care is an option if you wish and opportunity for other areas of interest are available.

Practice Highlights:

• Join a team of 8 surgeons.
• Clinic location: Maplewood Clinic & Specialty Center, Maplewood MN.
• Surgical cases preformed at: M Health Fairview St. Johns Hospital, M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital, Maplewood Surgery Center.
• Admitting Hospital: M Health Fairview St. Johns Hospital, M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital.
• Full time (1.0).
• Call Frequency: 1:8. Coverage for St. Johns and Woodwinds Hospital.
• Cover night and weekend call on a per FTE basis with other partners.
• You will be supported by Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners in the office and operating room.
• A team of anesthesiologists, CRNAs, Physician Assistants, perioperative staff and perianesthesia staff provide support to surgeons.
• Level 3 Trauma Center staffed 24/7 with Emergency Medicine Physicians.
• Patients are admitted to the 24/7 Hospitalist Service.
• We have a fully coordinated Electronic Medical Record (EPIC).
• Strong primary and specialty care referral base within MHealth Fairview system.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited ACGME general surgery residency and/or fellowship-training program.
• Board eligible/certified with the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.
• Licensed or ability to acquire medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota, and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota.
