ChristianaCare is seeking a BC/BE Cardiac Surgeon to join our dynamic Cardiac Surgery practice located at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware just 40 miles south of center city Philadelphia.
The successful candidate will join our employed team of 5 Cardiac Surgeons and have exposure to high volume and complex cases. Call is shared at 1:4.
This position offers access to a wide range of cardiac surgery procedures and technologies with state-of-the-art facilities and experienced support staff.

ChristianaCare's experienced Cardiac Surgery team performs close to 1,000 procedures annually. This position is newly created to meet the growing demand due to organizational, procedural and community growth. ChristianaCare is a regional referral center for patients throughout Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania for cardiac surgery procedures including coronary artery bypass, aortic and mitral valve repair and replacement, TAVR, TEVAR, Lead Extraction, Mitraclip, ECMO, VAD, complex aortic procedures, and robotic coronary procedures. Our practice is located on our expansive Christiana Hospital campus, a level-1 trauma center with 913 beds.
ChristianaCare is equipped with a dedicated 18 bed combined cardiology/cardiac surgery ICU staffed with ICU nurses as well as a 10-bed cardiac step-down unit all located on the same floor. 24/7 ICU coverage is provided by a large and experienced surgical advanced practice team consisting of an assistant surgeon, 8PAs and 3 NPs. We opened a new structural heart room in June 2019 with dedicated cardiac surgery block time for these procedures in multidisciplinary partnerships with cardiology and vascular surgery.
